Preparing for your Trip
Pre-trip Checklist
- Complete registration and submit deposit. There are various payment options. Full payment is due no later than 15 days prior to the trip.
- If traveling to another country - Check your passport. Make sure it is valid for 6 months beyond departure date. Passport Info.
- Purchase your airline tickets.
- Be sure the name on your passport matches the name on your airline ticket.
- Purchase travel insurance (optional). Travel Insurance Info.
Things to Remember When Traveling Abroad
- Passport
- Insurance policy information
- Copy of passport in a waterproof baggie (ID information pages)
- Airline tickets
- Copy of airline ticket pages (store with copy of passport, in waterproof baggie)
- ATM card and/or credit card. NOTE: When traveling abroad, ATM cards are the easiest way to exchange money.
- International Phone Card for calls home
- Foreign Language Dictionary and/or Phrase Book
- As we travel we honor and respect the laws and customs of the lands we are visiting. You may wish to read travel guides, research the internet, etc. to become more familiar with the lands you are traveling to.
- If you're unsure about anything, just ask us.
Flight Confirmation
It is recommended that you re-confirm your flights with your airline at least three days prior to departure. For your return flight, your trip leader will remind you to do this.
Other Preparations
This is a spiritual quest, and it's also important to prepare yourself spiritually and physically.
What to Bring
The following is only a guideline, designed to help you pack. Bring whatever you'd like, just try to keep it light, one suitcase only.
- Clothing for hot days and cool nights. It's best to bring clothing that can be layered. Be sure to include a jacket, and perhaps a sweat shirt.
- Loose clothing for yoga and exercise.
- Comfortable clothing for hiking and walking around.
- Something to wear for ceremony, if you'd like. (This is optional.)
- Swimsuit or something to wear in the sweat lodge.
- Good walking shoes and/or hiking boots.
- Insect repellent (we do have bugs).
- Sunscreen.
- Journal.
- Towel. (We have extras if you need one.)
- Sleeping Bag.
- Warm pajamas or sweats.
- Backpack or bag to carry incidentals while out for the day.
- Camera.
- Toiletries.
- Anything else you need.
We will not have a lot of extra space in the vehicle(s) for luggage. Please try to keep your luggage to one suitcase, and a small carry-on.
